Accessibility

We want Home Coach by MyKey to work for everyone.

Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We are not finished. This page tells you what we have built in, how we tested it, and what we still need to do.

What we have built in

  • A "Skip to main content" link at the top of every screen.
  • One clear heading on every screen, and a tab title that names the tool you are in.
  • Every button, link and box can be reached and used with a keyboard.
  • When the screen changes, keyboard focus moves to the new heading. When you close a question or a form, focus goes back to where you were.
  • A clear ring shows where you are when you use a keyboard.
  • Short messages for screen readers, such as "Chore added." and "Recipe saved."
  • The app asks before it removes a chore or a recipe, clears the checklist, or erases your data. The Escape key means Cancel.
  • If something is missing in a form, the app tells you in words and moves you to the right box.
  • Buttons, and the links at the bottom of each screen, are at least 44 pixels tall so they are easier to tap.
  • Text has strong contrast with its background.
  • The app fits a small phone screen without scrolling sideways, and nothing is cut off when text is made twice as large.
  • The starry background moves gently. A Pause motion button in the bottom corner stops all movement, and your choice is remembered on this device. If your device is set to Reduce Motion, the background stays still.
  • Links that open a new tab say so to screen readers.
  • No sounds and no time limits.

How we tested

We last tested on October 10, 2026. Here is what we did:

  • Automated axe checks on every screen.
  • A keyboard-only walk-through.
  • A phone-sized screen 320 pixels wide.
  • Larger text, set to 200 percent.
  • The Reduce Motion setting.
  • The Chromium browser.

These tests were run with testing tools on a computer. They are a good start, but they do not replace testing by people who use assistive technology every day.

What we know still needs work

  • The email links inside sentences on this page, and on the Privacy and Terms pages, are smaller than 44 pixels tall.
  • When text is made very large, a long word can break onto the next line in the middle of the word.

What we have not tested yet

  • People who use VoiceOver or TalkBack every day.
  • Switch control.
  • Windows High Contrast.
  • Safari and Firefox.
  • Real phones and tablets in a kitchen.
  • The app inside each flipbook viewer.
